Lake Henry

Lake Henry

Located two miles east of Ordway off County Lane 20, is a fisherman’s paradise, with large Channel Catfish, Bullhead Catfish (Mudcats), 

Wipers, Trout, Bass and Perch. If you have a boat or jet ski, then there is ample room on this lake for your activities as well. Free primitive camping is available anywhere you would like around the south and east edges of the lake. There is a boat ramp on the east side of the lake and a vault toilet along the south edge. Bird watchers should visit the woody areas on the western side of the lake and along the shore for shorebirds and gulls.

  • Directions: From Ordway, go two miles east on Highway 96 to County Lane 20. Turn left (north) on Lane 20 for 1.5 miles. The boat ramp is on the east side of the lake. Camping is available along the south and east edges

Lake Meredith

Lake Meredith

Located three miles east of Ordway, is a very large lake – about 4 miles long and 2 miles wide. Jet skiing and water skiing are some of the favorite activities on this lake. Throw in a little fishing, and you have a lake-lovers paradise. There is free primitive camping located at the north edge of the lake off County Lane 21. This area also has vault toilets, a boat ramp, and jet ski ramp. Bird watchers should explore the woody areas along the north edge of the lake and the marshy areas along Bob Creek off Highway 71 on the western side of the lake.

  • Directions: From Ordway, go three miles east on Highway 96 to County Lane 21. Turn right (south) on Lane 21 for one mile. The boat ramp, camping, and toilets are at the end of the road along the edge of the lake (see map).

Ordway Reservoir

Ordway Reservoir

Located two miles north of Ordway off Highway 71, is stocked with Rainbow Trout in the spring and is one of the favorite fishing spots of the locals. There is no boating allowed on this small reservoir and no facilities.

  • Directions: From Ordway, take Highway 71 two miles north. Turn left (west) into the reservoir area and park along the east or south edges 
  • No Fees, but to fish you need a valid Colorado fishing license.

  • Fishing along the east edge of the first reservoir is accessible.
